An all-star line-up performs Promises, the acclaimed 2021 album-length composition recorded with the late tenor saxophonist Pharoah Sanders.

In 2019, the composer Floating Points (Sam Shepherd) converged with spiritual jazz icon Pharoah Sanders to create Promises, a breathtaking album-length composition and mesmerizing journey also featuring the London Symphony Orchestra. Issued in 2021, the recording has become one of the most acclaimed releases of our time. In the weeks before his passing, Shepherd and Sanders talked about doing a single live performance of Promises, together with a large orchestra.

On September 20, 2023, Floating Points will premiere Promises in full at the Hollywood Bowl alongside all-star line-up handpicked, in part, by Sanders himself. The performance will bring to life a recording that capped Sanders’ profoundly influential six decades in music.
